Present law, relative to installation standards for manufactured and modular homes, requires that in
flood-prone areas, the foundation comply with the requirements set forth in the manual,
Manufactured Home Installation In Flood Hazard Areas, published by FEMA.
Proposed law provides that for all installations in Louisiana, the lowest finished floor shall be the
top of the Chassis I-Beam. Further provides that for all purposes related to the National Flood
Insurance Program, all state and local plans shall reference and use the top of the chassis I-Beam as
the lowest finished floor.
Effective August 1, 2020.
