DIGEST SB 514 Original 2020 Regular Session Luneau Present law provides for qualifications of professional engineers in La. Proposed law, beginning January 1, 2021, requires the La. Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board (board) to waive the Fundamentals of Engineering examination if the applicant satisfies the following: (1) Is a graduate of an accredited engineering curriculum of four years or more approved by the board as being of satisfactory standing. (2) Has 20 years or more of progressive engineering experience in work acceptable to the board. (3)Is of good character and reputation. (4) Has passed the Principles and Practice of Engineering examination. Proposed law requires the board to adopt rules in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act by January 1, 2021.
