COMMENDATIONS. Commends Derek Stingley Jr. on an outstanding season with the
Louisiana State University Fighting Tigers football team.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend Derek Stingley Jr. on an outstanding season with the Louisiana State
3 University Fighting Tigers football team.
4 WHEREAS, Derek Stingley Jr. is a cornerback with the Louisiana State University
5 (LSU) Fighting Tigers; and
6 WHEREAS, he attended the Dunham School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he
7 had twenty-seven career interceptions and as a senior, he was named the Louisiana Gatorade
8 Football Player of the Year; and
9 WHEREAS, Derek was rated as a five-star recruit, ranked as the top overall player
10 in his class by Rivals.com, and ranked third by 247Sports.com; and
11 WHEREAS, he entered his freshman year at LSU in 2019 as a starter and led the
12 Southeastern Conference (SEC) with six interceptions and fifteen passes defended, and was
13 a first-team All-SEC selection by the Associated Press (AP); and
14 WHEREAS, he was also a consensus All-American, earning first-team honors from
15 the AP, American Football Coaches Association, The Sporting News, Sports Illustrated,
16 ESPN, and USA Today; and
17 WHEREAS, Derek Stingley Jr. is a talented athlete who demonstrates impeccable
18 leadership and a commitment to excellence that is truly commendable; and

1 WHEREAS, it is fitting to herald the achievements of Louisiana's accomplished
2 young men like Derek Stingley Jr., a model citizen who represents the best and brightest of
3 the state and who is deserving of the honors bestowed upon him as a member of the
4 Louisiana State University Fighting Tigers football team.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
6 commend and congratulate Derek Stingley Jr. on an outstanding 2019 football season as a
7 cornerback with the Louisiana State University Fighting Tigers; does hereby record for
8 posterity the pride and honor that he brings to his family, friends, community, the state of
9 Louisiana, and the United States of America; and does hereby extend to him best wishes for
10 continued success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.
11 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
12 Derek Stingley Jr.
