A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend Derek Stingley Jr. on an outstanding season with the Louisiana State
University Fighting Tigers football team.
WHEREAS, Derek Stingley Jr. is a cornerback with the Louisiana State University
(LSU) Fighting Tigers; and
WHEREAS, he attended the Dunham School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he
had twenty-seven career interceptions and as a senior, he was named the Louisiana Gatorade
Football Player of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Derek was rated as a five-star recruit, ranked as the top overall player
in his class by Rivals.com, and ranked third by 247Sports.com; and
WHEREAS, he entered his freshman year at LSU in 2019 as a starter and led the
Southeastern Conference (SEC) with six interceptions and fifteen passes defended, and was
a first-team All-SEC selection by the Associated Press (AP); and
WHEREAS, he was also a consensus All-American, earning first-team honors from
the AP, American Football Coaches Association, The Sporting News, Sports Illustrated,
ESPN, and USA Today; and
WHEREAS, Derek Stingley Jr. is a talented athlete who demonstrates impeccable
leadership and a commitment to excellence that is truly commendable; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting to herald the achievements of Louisiana's accomplished
young men like Derek Stingley Jr., a model citizen who represents the best and brightest of
the state and who is deserving of the honors bestowed upon him as a member of the
Louisiana State University Fighting Tigers football team.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend and congratulate Derek Stingley Jr. on an outstanding 2019 football season as a
cornerback with the Louisiana State University Fighting Tigers, does hereby record for
posterity the pride and honor that he brings to his family, friends, community, the state of
Louisiana, and the United States of America, and does hereby extend to him best wishes for
continued success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Derek Stingley Jr.
