SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 48
BY SENATOR PEACOCK 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends the Louisiana 4-H Shooting Sports Team upon its receipt
of the 2019 4-H National Championship Shooting title.
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend and congratulate the Louisiana 4-H Shooting Sports Team upon its receipt of
3 the 2019 4-H National Championship Shooting title.
4 WHEREAS, Team Louisiana won the top prize at the 2019 4-H National Shooting
5 Sports Championships held in Grand Island, Nebraska, on June 23-28, 2019, for the first
6 time; and
7 WHEREAS, the event attracted six hundred seventy-nine contestants, representing
8 4-H clubs from thirty-six states, and competing in twenty-seven events, both as individuals
9 and in team competitions; in the disciplines of compound bow, recurve bow, air rifle, air
10 pistol, .22 rifle, .22 pistol, shotgun, and muzzleloader, along with comprehensive testing in
11 hunting skills; and
12 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Shooting Team won the national champion title by
13 placing 1st overall in air pistol, air rifle, recurve archery, small-bore rifle, and shotgun, 5th
14 place in hunting skills, 11th place in small-bore pistol, 2nd place in muzzleloading, and 4th
15 place in compound archery; and
16 WHEREAS, Team Louisiana boasts six members and one 4-H National Ambassador
17 from Bossier Parish; and
18 WHEREAS, the Bossier Parish members excelled in their specialties, Reed Bearden,

1 compound archery; Aiden Jones, hunting skills; Alexis McDonald, Jacob Schomburg, and
2 Jericho Litwiler, all with muzzleloaders; Sarah Hammonds, small-bore pistol; and Alexis
3 Bearden as a 4-H National Ambassador; and
4 WHEREAS, Reed Bearden placed 9th in compound archery 3D and 9th place overall
5 in compound archery; and
6 WHEREAS, Aiden Jones was on the 4th place team in hunting skills and wildlife
7 identification, 3rd place in team hunting skills and decision making, and 5th place in team
8 general hunting skills, and this team was in 5th place overall; and
9 WHEREAS, Sarah Hammonds competed in small-bore pistol and this team finished
10 11th overall; and
11 WHEREAS, in the muzzleloader division, Alexis McDonald placed 4th in bullseye,
12 Jericho Litwiler placed 7th in bullseye, 6th in novelty targets, and 10th overall; and Jacob
13 Schomburg placed 9th in silhouettes, while the muzzleloader team placed 1st in bullseye and
14 novelty targets, 3rd place in silhouettes, and finished in 2nd overall; and
15 WHEREAS, Alexis Bearden, as a 4-H National Ambassador, acts as a youth leader
16 and spokesperson for the 4-H program and demonstrates the skills of leadership, citizenship,
17 and community service; and
18 WHEREAS, the 4-H Shooting Sports program develops teamwork, self-discipline,
19 self-confidence, and decision-making skills in its competitors, while it promotes the highest
20 standards of safety, sportsmanship, and ethical behavior; and
21 WHEREAS, the program reenforces the lofty tenets of 4-H that include engaging
22 youth to reach their fullest potential while advancing an appreciation and understanding of
23 the environment and the preservation of natural resources; and
24 WHEREAS, participants learn firearms marksmanship from an exemplary coaching
25 staff that includes Bob Davis, Jessica Domangue, Todd Hubble, Aub Ward, Chris Pearce,
26 Jeremy Schomburg, Lynn Usie, Kenny Garris, and Matt Wilkinson; and
27 WHEREAS, the National 4-H Shooting Sports Program and its annual championship
28 serve to develop productive and responsible citizens through competition and individual
29 accomplishment.
30 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby

1 commend the Louisiana 4-H Shooting Sports Team upon its receipt of the 2019 4-H National
2 Championship Shooting title and does hereby congratulate the team on its splendid showing
3 in the national competition.
4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
5 Louisiana 4-H Shooting Sports Team.
