Expresses condolences upon the passing of Ludia "Bea" Manogin Thomas. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of 3 Louisiana upon the passing of Ludia "Bea" Manogin Thomas. 4 WHEREAS, it is with deep regrets and profound sorrow that the citizens of 5 Louisiana learned that Ludia "Bea" Manogin Thomas passed away at the age of seventy- 6 seven; and 7 WHEREAS, Ludia Manogin was born on October 15, 1943, to the union of Simmie 8 D. Manogin Sr. and Myrtle Thames Manogin, as the forth of twelve children, in Mendenhall, 9 Mississippi, before her family relocated to Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and 10 WHEREAS, as an intuitive and brilliant child who enjoyed learning, she attended 11 and graduated with honors from Scotlandville Senior High School in 1962, received a 12 Bachelor of Science in Evangelism from Jimmy Swaggart Bible College, and attained a 13 Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling from Southern University A&M College 14 while working for the United States Post Office for over thirty years; and 15 WHEREAS, Ludia Thomas marriage in 1964 was blessed with five children, seven 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild who were the joy of her life combined with her love 17 of God which was evident in her graceful, loving, and stern parenting style; and 18 WHEREAS, "Bea" was aunt, second mom, and Aunt Bea to her many nieces and Page 1 of 3 SR NO. 40 SLS 20RS-921 ORIGINAL 1 nephews who often ran to her to share their secrets and seek advice, often shocked at how 2 straight forward she would be with them and often called "the Shepherd" by her siblings as 3 she protected and evangelized to each one a personal message that was tailored for them; and 4 WHEREAS, because of her giant devotion to God and family she led them to Christ 5 and ground each in God's Words while stressing education and perseverance; and 6 WHEREAS, in her later years, Ludia Thomas served as an Evangelist at Victory 7 International Ministries, was very active in church and loved the fellowship that came with 8 her church family even traveling with them on her favorite journey to the Holy Land in 9 2013; and 10 WHEREAS, she was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings: Nathaniel, 11 Mildred, James, Wardell, Simmie Jr., and James Earl; and 12 WHEREAS, she leaves to celebrate her legacy five children: Frederick Link 13 (Desiree), Carol Bonita, Nicole (Beau), Dawn Ylette, and Delvan Odell, seven 14 grandchildren: Katryna, Tyrin, Travis, Princeton, Jonathan, Devin, Ethan and one 15 great-grandchild, Kayden; and 16 WHEREAS, she is also survived by five siblings, Ester Manogin, Charles Manogin, 17 Martha Manogin, Sue White (Joe), and Nelsene Peters (Ferman) and one sister-in-law 18 Louise Manogin and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and friends; and 19 WHEREAS, the death of Ludia "Bea" Manogin Thomas will leave a tremendous 20 void in her family, church, and community and her memory shall live forever in the minds 21 and hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her. 22 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 23 does hereby extend sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Ludia 24 "Bea" Manogin Thomas upon her passing. 25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to a 26 member of Ludia "Bea" Manogin Thomas' family.
