SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 69

GOVERNOR. Requests the governor to issue an executive order requiring persons over age
two to wear a mask or cloth face covering and authorizes business operators and building
owners to deny admittance to individuals over age two who fail to wear a mask or cloth face
covering.

2 To urge and request the governor to issue an executive order requiring persons over age two
3 to wear a mask or cloth face covering when in a public place or if unable to maintain
4 or not maintaining social distance when in public and authorizing business operators
5 and building owners to deny admittance to certain persons not wearing a mask or
6 cloth face covering
7 WHEREAS, in response to the health emergency caused by the COVID-19
8 pandemic, the governor of the state of New York has issued a number of executive orders;
9 and
10 WHEREAS, these executive orders have progressed from requiring essential
11 businesses to provide employees with face coverings when in direct contact with customers;
12 requiring persons over age two utilizing public or private transportation carriers or other
13 for-hire vehicles to wear a mask or face covering provided they are medically able to tolerate
14 wearing a mask or face covering over the nose and mouth; requiring that a mask or face
15 covering be worn by the operator of the public or private transport; and including a
16 requirement that any person over age two who can tolerate a face covering to cover their
17 nose and mouth when in a public place or if unable to maintain or when not maintaining
18 social distance.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
2 does hereby request that the governor issue an executive order requiring any person over age
3 two who can tolerate a mask or cloth face covering to cover their nose and mouth when in
4 a public place or when unable to maintain or when not maintaining social distance and
5 authorizing business operators and building owners, and those authorized on their behalf, to
6 deny admittance to individuals over age two, who are able to medically tolerate a face
7 covering, but who are not wearing a mask or cloth face covering.
8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be sent to
9 Governor John Bel Edwards.
