Abstract: Allows a sheriff or deputy sheriff to purchase his firearm at fair market value upon
retirement.
Present law provides that a sheriff or deputy sheriff who retires with at least 16 years of active
service and who is in good standing with the La. Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund is entitled to
purchase his firearm at fair market value upon retirement, subject to approval by the sheriff.
Proposed law removes the years of active service requirement and otherwise retains present law.
