HOUSE BILL NO. 234
BY REPRESENTATIVES CARPENTER, MOORE, AND WHITE AND SENATORS
BARROW, FIELDS, JACKSON, MIZELL, AND PETERSON
1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 15:555(D), to enact R.S. 15:555(A)(17) and 556(A)(3), and to
3 repeal R.S. 15:556(B), relative to the Louisiana Sexual Assault Oversight
4 Commission; to provide relative to the membership of the commission; to provide
5 relative to the duties of the commission; to provide for an effective date; and to
6 provide for related matters.
7 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1.  R.S. 15:555(D) is hereby amended and reenacted and  R.S. 15:555(A)(17)
9 and 556(A)(3) are hereby enacted to read as follows:
10 §555.  Louisiana Sexual Assault Oversight Commission; creation; membership;
11	meetings
12	A.  The Louisiana Sexual Assault Oversight Commission is hereby created
13 within the Department of Justice, office of the attorney general.  The commission
14 shall consist of the following members:

16	(17)  The president of Sexual Trauma Awareness and Response or her
17 designee.

19	D.  The commission shall fix a time and place for its meetings and shall meet
20 at least once every three four months.  Additional meetings may be held upon the call
21 of the chairman.

4	(3)  Upon approval of the members, the commission may adopt additional
5 projects, duties, or both as necessary to further the goal of the commission.
6 Section 2.  R.S. 15:556(B) is hereby repealed in its entirety.
7 Section 3.  This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not
8 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature
9 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If
10 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become
11 effective on the day following such approval.
