1 AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 32:429(A)(2), relative to office of motor vehicle field offices;
3 to provide relative to the office of motor vehicles field office for Calcasieu Parish;
4 to authorize Calcasieu Parish to levy certain fees; and to provide for related matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. 32:429(A)(2) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
7 ยง429. Office of motor vehicles field offices; authorization of fees

10 (2) The fee provided for in Paragraph (1) of this Subsection may be levied
11 in an amount not to exceed six dollars by the local governing authority of the
12 parishes of Orleans, and Jefferson, and Calcasieu.

Abstract: Authorizes the parish of Calcasieu to levy fees not to exceed $6 as operation
costs for their local office of motor vehicles field office.
Present law authorizes the governing authority of any local governmental subdivision to
levy, by resolution, a fee for each service or transaction carried out as an operation of an
office of motor vehicles field office not fully funded by the state. Except as provided in
present law, prohibits exceeding a $4.50 fee per service or transaction and requires the fee
be used solely to defray operation costs for the local field office, including but not limited
to facility rental, utilities, and maintenance.
Present law authorizes the fee provided in present law be levied in an amount not to exceed
$6 by the local governing authority of the parishes of Orleans and Jefferson.
Proposed law retains present law and includes Calcasieu Parish as a local governing
authority authorized to levy a fee not to exceed $6 to defray operation costs for the local
office of motor vehicles field office.
