HB 365 Original 2021 Regular Session Farnum
Abstract: Requires that one member of the La. State Racing Commission (commission) be a
horseman nominated by the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association.
Present law establishes the commission, requires the commission be composed of 13 members, and
provides various criteria for the members. Proposed law retains present law.
Present law requires three members of the commission to be owners of racehorses which participate
in any race licensed by the commission. Proposed law raises the number of members required to
own participating racehorses from three to four.
Additionally, proposed law requires that one of those four members be a horseman appointed from
a list of three nominees submitted by the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association.
