Abstract:  Requires that one member of the La. State Racing Commission (commission) be a
member of the Louisiana quarter horse industry.
Present law establishes the commission, requires the commission be composed of 13 members, and
provides various criteria for the members.  Proposed law retains present law.
Present law requires three members of the commission to be owners of racehorses which participate
in any race licensed by the commission.  Proposed law retains present law.
Proposed law requires that one of the three owner-members be from the Louisiana quarter horse
industry.

Summary of Amendments Adopted by House
The Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on Commerce to the original bill:
1. Restore present law to require three members of the commission be owners of racehorses
which participate in any race licensed by the commission.
2. Change the requisite membership of one of the three owner-members from a nominee of
the Louisiana Horse Breeders Association to a member of the Louisiana quarter horse
industry.
3. Make technical changes.
