ENROLLED ACT No. 236 2021 Regular Session HOUSE BILL NO. 422 BY REPRESENTATIVE EMERSON 1 AN ACT 2 To amend and reenact R.S. 15:1199.4(E)(introductory paragraph) and to enact R.S. 3 15:1199.4(E)(13) and (O), relative to the Reentry Advisory Council; to provide 4 relative to the membership of the Reentry Advisory Council; to add a member; to 5 provide relative to the disqualification of members for missing a certain number of 6 meetings; to provide for certain notification to the nominating authority of the 7 disqualified member; to provide for the appointment of a member to replace the 8 disqualified member; to prohibit the disqualified member from being reappointed for 9 a certain period of time; and to provide for related matters. 10 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 11 Section 1. R.S. 15:1199.4(E)(introductory paragraph) is hereby amended and 12 reenacted and R.S. 15:1199.4(E)(13) and (O) are hereby enacted to read as follows: 13 ยง1199.4. Reentry Advisory Council; creation; members; powers and duties 14 * * * 15 E. The governor shall appoint twelve thirteen members in accordance with 16 the following provisions: 17 * * * 18 (13) One member shall be appointed from a list of three nominations from 19 the Council on the Children of Incarcerated Parents and Caregivers. 20 * * * 21 O. Any appointed member who is absent for two meetings out of four 22 consecutive meetings of the council may be disqualified and removed from the 23 council membership. HB NO. 422 ENROLLED 1 been removed from the council membership pursuant to this Subsection and request 2 that the appointing entity provide a list of three nominees to the governor to fill the 3 vacancy. The former member shall not be eligible for reappointment until expiration 4 of the balance of the vacated term.
