GAMBLING/VIDEO POKER: Provides relative to video draw poker devices 1 AN ACT 2To amend and reenact R.S. 27:402(18) and 405(C)(1) through (5), relative to video draw 3 poker devices; to provide relative to the definition of video draw poker; to provide 4 relative to the games offered by video draw poker devices; to provide relative to the 5 method of operation of the games of video draw poker or card games; and to provide 6 for related matters. 7Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 8 Section 1. R.S. 27:402(18) and 405(C)(1) through (5) are hereby amended and 9reenacted to read as follows: 10 §402. Each video draw poker device shall offer the game of draw poker or such 2 other card games as are approved by the division and have the following method of 3 operation: 4 (1) The cards must shall be shuffled after each hand is dealt. 5 (2) Each hand must shall utilize a deck one or more decks of cards consisting 6 of fifty-two standard playing cards each, and up to two jokers per deck may also be 7 used. Present law defines "video draw poker" as any card game approved by the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections, office of state police, that utilizes one deck of cards per hand with multiple hands permitted per game. Proposed law amends the present law definition of "video draw poker device" to include one or more decks of cards per hand with multiple hands permitted per game. Present law provides that each video draw poker device shall offer the game of draw poker or other such card games that are approved by the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections, office of state police, and have certain methods of operations as provided by present law. Requires the deck to be shuffled by use of a random number generator to exchange each card in the deck with another randomly selected card. Proposed law amends present law to require each hand to utilize one or more decks of cards consisting of 52 standard playing cards each, and up to two jokers per deck may also be used.
