HB 436 Original	2021 Regular Session	Freiberg
Abstract: Repeals requirements to maintain a central database on life insurance policies.
Present law requires the Dept. of Insurance to maintain a central database of electronic contact
information for life insurers having policies in force in this state. Excludes credit life insurers.
Authorizes the decedent's immediate family members to file with the dept. a written request to search
the central database if the decedent was a state resident or former resident. Requires the request to
include a copy of the decedent's death certificate. Prohibits assignment of the right to file a written
request. Requires the dept. to transmit any such request to life insurers having policies in force in
this state, along with information necessary for responding directly to the person filing the request.
Proposed law repeals present law.
Effective July 1, 2021.
