ACT 28 (HB 436) 2021 Regular Session Freiberg
Prior law required the Dept. of Insurance to maintain a central database of electronic contact
information for life insurers having policies in force in this state, excluding credit life
insurers. Authorized a decedent's immediate family members to file with the dept. a written
request to search the central database if the decedent was a state resident or former resident.
Required the request to include a copy of the decedent's death certificate. Prohibited
assignment of the right to file a written request. Required the dept. to transmit any such
request to life insurers having policies in force in this state, along with information necessary
for responding directly to the person filing the request.
New law repeals prior law.
Effective July 1, 2021.
