BUILDING CODES:  Provides relative to enforcement of the state uniform construction
code
1	AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 40:1730.23(J), relative to enforcement of the state uniform construction code;
3 to provide for inspections of commercial and residential structures; to prohibit
4 remote virtual inspections of such structures; and to provide for related matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  R.S. 40:1730.23(J) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 
7 ยง1730.23.  Enforcement of building codes by municipalities and parishes

9	J.  It shall be unlawful for any person to perform a remote virtual inspection
10 of any commercial or residential structure in lieu of a physical onsite inspection by
11 a properly registered certified building inspector in this state.

Abstract:  Prohibits virtual inspections of commercial or residential structures to enforce
the state uniform construction code.
Present law regulates the enforcement of the state uniform construction code.
Proposed law retains present law and adds a restriction prohibiting remote virtual inspections
in lieu of physical onsite inspections by a registered certified building inspector.
