HB 468 Original 2021 Regular Session Landry
Abstract: Provides relative to the extension of medicaid coverage for individuals experiencing
postpartum.
Proposed law provides that upon approval by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
(CMS), the La. Dept. of Health (LDH) shall provide postpartum medicaid coverage to eligible
pregnant individuals who qualify under the state's Medicaid plan, 1 year after the end of their
pregnancy.
Proposed law provides that LDH shall promulgate all such rules in accordance with present law as
are necessary to implement the provisions of proposed law.
