COURTS/COURT COSTS:  Provides relative to fees dedicated to the operational costs of
the office of the coroner in Concordia Parish
1	AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 13:5722(A)(2)(f) and to repeal R.S. 13:5722(A)(2)(e), relative to court costs
3 in Concordia Parish; to provide for an additional court fee in criminal matters in all
4 courts in Concordia Parish; to provide relative to the coroner's operational fund; to
5 provide for an effective date; and to provide for related matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 13:5722(A)(2)(f) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 
8 ยง5722.  Coroner's Operational Fund established

13	(f)  Notwithstanding the provisions of R.S. 13:62, in criminal cases, including
14 traffic violations, in all courts in Concordia Parish, a fee of not less than five dollars
15 nor more than ten dollars may be imposed on every defendant who is convicted after
16 trial or plea of guilty, which fee shall be used solely to defray the operational costs
17 of the office of the coroner of the parish.

1 Section 3. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not
2signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature
3by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If
4vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become
5effective on the day following such approval.

Abstract:  Allows Concordia Parish courts to collect a fee of not less than five dollars nor
no more than ten dollars in criminal cases to be used solely to defray the operational
costs of the office of the coroner of the parish.
Present law establishes the Coroner's Operational Fund and a criminal court fee on certain
defendants dedicated to defraying the operational costs of the office of the coroner in the
parish in which the conviction occurred.  Provides for an additional fee in certain parishes
for the support of the coroner.
Proposed law authorizes an additional fee of not less than five dollars nor more than ten
dollars on every defendant who is convicted in all courts in Concordia Parish to be used
solely to defray the operational costs of the coroner's office and repeals a similar fee.
Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
