RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 78 (HB 593) 2021 Regular Session Travis Johnson Prior law provided that when a vehicle was parked on or near the highway flashing amber or yellow warning lights, other drivers had to yield the right-of-way by making a lane change or slowing to a reasonably safe speed if a lane change was not possible. New law retains prior law and extends it to vehicles flashing green lights. Existing law prohibits a person from driving a vehicle on the highway with a lamp or device on the vehicle displaying a red or a green light visible from directly in front of the center of the vehicle. Excludes vehicles with red or green lights visible from the front that are authorized by law to use such lights. New law also excludes DOTD vehicles displaying green lights from the restrictions in prior law. Effective upon signature of governor (June 4, 2021). (Amends R.S. 32:125(B)(intro. para.) and 327(B))
