Abstract:  Allows certain parish courts to collect a fee of not less than $5 nor more than $10 in
criminal cases to be used solely to defray the costs of the office of the coroner of the parish.
Present law establishes the Coroner's Operational Fund and a criminal court fee on certain defendants
dedicated to defraying the operational costs of the office of the coroner in the parish in which the
conviction occurred.  Provides for an additional fee in certain parishes for the support of the coroner.
Proposed law authorizes an additional fee of not less than $5 and no more than $10 on every
defendant who is convicted in all courts in Tensas Parish, East Carroll Parish, and Madison Parish
to be used solely to defray the operational costs of the coroner's office.

Summary of Amendments Adopted by House
The Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on Judiciary to the original bill:
1. Make technical changes.
2. Add East Carroll Parish and Madison Parish.
3. Change the fee amount from not less than $5 to not less than $5 and no more than $10.
