HB 682 Engrossed	2021 Regular Session	Coussan
Abstract: Adds a member to the board of commissioners for the Teche-Vermilion Freshwater
District.
Present law provides for the membership, tenure, officers, vacancies, and compensation relative to
members of the board of commissioners for the Teche-Vermilion Freshwater District.
Present law specifies that the membership of the board of commissioners is to be made up of one
member from each of the parishes constituting the district, to be selected and appointed by the
governing authority of their respective parishes, and one member from St. Landry Parish, to be
selected and appointed by the governing authority of the parish, who shall only have the right to vote
on matters pertaining to drainage and flooding.
Proposed law retains present law and adds one member domiciled within the jurisdictional
boundaries of the district with expertise in hydrology, flood control management, or civil
engineering, to serve in an advisory role without having the right or privilege of voting, selected by
the governor from a pool of three candidates agreed on and selected by the members of the House
of Representatives and the Senate whose district, or a part thereof, is within the jurisdictional
boundaries of the district
