GREEN SHEET REDIGEST HB 682 2021 Regular Session Coussan WATERWAYS: Provides relative to the powers, duties, functions, and responsibilities of the Teche-Vermilion Freshwater District. DIGEST Present law provides for the membership, tenure, officers, vacancies, and compensation relative to members of the board of commissioners for the Teche-Vermilion Freshwater District. Present law specifies that the membership of the board of commissioners is to be made up of one member from each of the parishes constituting the district, to be selected and appointed by the governing authority of their respective parishes, and one member from St. Landry Parish, to be selected and appointed by the governing authority of the parish, who shall only have the right to vote on matters pertaining to drainage and flooding. Proposed law retains present law and adds one member domiciled within the jurisdictional boundaries of the district who is a civil engineer or a civil engineer with a focus in hydrology, to serve in an advisory role without having the right or privilege of voting, selected by the governor from a pool of three candidates agreed on and selected by the members of the House of Representatives and the Senate whose districts, or a part thereof, are within the jurisdictional boundaries of the district.
