MUNICIPALITIES:  Provides relative to the chief of police in the village of Dodson
1	AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 33:385.1(B), relative to the village of Dodson; to provide relative
3 to the office of chief of police; to provide relative to qualifications; and to provide
4 for related matters.
5	Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published
6	as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of
7	Louisiana.
8Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
9 Section 1.  R.S. 33:385.1(B) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
10 ยง385.1.  Qualifications of elected chief of police
11	*          *          *
12	B.(1)  The elected chief of police of a village shall be an elector of the village
13 who at the time of qualification as a candidate for the office of chief of police shall
14 have been domiciled for at least the immediately preceding six months in the village.
15	(2)  A person who resides outside of the corporate limits of the village of
16 Dodson, but within the boundaries of Winn Parish, may be elected chief of police of
17 the village.
18 Section 2.  This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not
19signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature
20by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If

1vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become
2effective on the day following such approval.

Abstract: Provides relative to qualifications for the police chief of Dodson.
Present law provides relative to qualifications of elected chief of police.  Provides that an
elected chief of police of a village shall be an elector of the village who at the time of
qualification as a candidate for said office shall have been domiciled for at least the
immediately preceding six months in the village.
Proposed law provides for an exception for the police chief in Dodson.  Provides that a
person who resides outside of the corporate limits of the village of Dodson, but within the
boundaries of Winn Parish, may be elected chief of police of the village.
Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
