Existing law allows any airport district, airport authority, and other political subdivisions,
including the New Orleans Aviation Board, to lease to any person, areas for operations space,
improvements, and equipment on such airport or landing field in accordance with public bid
law and existing law provisions relative to the lease of public lands.
New law allows the Iberia Parish Airport Authority, which operates LeMaire Airport in
Jeanerette, Louisiana, to lease land, operations space, improvements, and equipment on such
airport or landing field without advertising or competitive bidding, provided the Iberia Parish
Airport Authority charges fair and reasonable prices for the property, which is determined
by appraisals and fair market value comparisons in accordance with Federal Aviation
Administration guidelines.
New law provides that the appraisals and fair market value comparisons required by new law
be conducted and paid for by the Iberia Parish Airport Authority.
Effective August 1, 2021.
