COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Barbe High School baseball team on winning the
Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2021 Class 5A state championship
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend the Barbe High School baseball team on winning the Louisiana High School
3 Athletic Association 2021 Class 5A state championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Barbe High School Buccaneers baseball team defeated the Rebels
5of West Monroe 5-0 to win the school's eleventh state baseball title; the Buccaneers also
6achieved back-to-back state titles for the fourth time since the 2000-2001 season; and
7 WHEREAS, Barbe junior pitcher Gavin Guidry earned the game's Most Outstanding
8Player Award after delivering a three-hit, nine-strikeout shutout in the championship game
9of the season; and
10 WHEREAS, the Buccaneers finished the season with thirty-nine wins and only two
11losses; this is the second time since 2014 that the Barbe High School baseball team has
12achieved this impressive record; in 2014, the team was declared national champions by
13Baseball America, MaxPreps, Perfect Game, and the National High School Baseball
14Coaches Association; and
15 WHEREAS, the Buccaneers' cumulative GPA is 3.7; seven members were named
16to the first-team all district team and another seven made the honorable mention all-district
17team; and
18 WHEREAS, the members of the Barbe High School baseball team are Gavin Guidry,
19Donovan LaSalle, Kyle DeBarge, Grant Comeaux, Kameron Edwards, Blake Moss, JC
20Vanek, JoJo Semien, Tyler Barrett, Ethan Medlin, Gage Coffman, Jack Walker, Grant
21Trahan, Adam Guth, Bodee Buller, Keyon Guillory, Blake Wren, Crawford Courville,

1Landon Victorian, Donny Sandifer, Kasen Bellard, Owen Galt, Baylor Kingsley, Jackson
2Posch, Jamaal Levi, Landon Ledoux, Diego Corrales, Holden LeBlanc, Gabe Guidry, and
3Andrew Lanthier; and
4 WHEREAS, the team is coached by Head Coach Glenn Cecchini and assistant
5coaches Jarred Barrett, Dillon Carroll, Garin Cecchini, Luke David, and Blake Perrodin; they
6were also helped by team trainer Jamie Raspberry and student managers Mason Griffin and
7Avalynn David; and
8 WHEREAS, the Barbe High School Buccaneers baseball team is most deserving of
9recognition for their outstanding performance this season.
10 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
11commend the Barbe High School baseball team on winning the Louisiana High School
12Athletic Association 2021 Class 5A state championship; does hereby recognize the
13incredible dominance of the Barbe High School baseball program over the past two decades;
14and does hereby extend sincere hopes that they receive the same national recognition as they
15did in 2014.
16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
17principal of Barbe High School.
