COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Barbe High School softball team on winning the
Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2021 Class 5A state championship
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend the Barbe High School Buccaneers softball team on winning the Louisiana
3 High School Athletic Association 2021 Class 5A state championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Buccaneers captured their first state title since 1997 by defeating
5Airline 3-1 in the Class 5A state championship game; and
6 WHEREAS, Madison Chretien was named the game's Most Outstanding Player after
7finishing with a home run and a double; and
8 WHEREAS, the Buccaneers finished the season with thirty-one wins and two losses
9and found motivation in their runner-up finish in the state softball tournament played in
102019; and
11 WHEREAS, the members of the Barbe High School softball team are most deserving
12of recognition for overcoming the pain of their 2019 runner-up finish to capture the 2021
13Class 5A state championship and the school's fifth state softball title.
14 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
15commend the Barbe High School softball team on winning the Louisiana High School
16Athletic Association 2021 Class 5A state championship; does hereby recognize the
17dominance of the Buccaneers throughout this softball season; and does hereby extend sincere
18hopes that the team continue to persevere in the face of hardship and achieve greatness.
19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
20principal of Barbe High School.
