HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 114

A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend the Barbe High School Buccaneers softball team on winning the Louisiana
High School Athletic Association 2021 Class 5A state championship.
WHEREAS, the Buccaneers captured their first state title since 1997 by defeating
Airline 3-1 in the Class 5A state championship game; and
WHEREAS, Madison Chretien was named the game's Most Outstanding Player after
finishing with a home run and a double; and
WHEREAS, the Buccaneers finished the season with thirty-one wins and two losses
and found motivation in their runner-up finish in the state softball tournament played in
2019; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Barbe High School softball team are most deserving
of recognition for overcoming the pain of their 2019 runner-up finish to capture the 2021
Class 5A state championship and the school's fifth state softball title.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the Barbe High School softball team on winning the Louisiana High School
Athletic Association 2021 Class 5A state championship; does hereby recognize the
dominance of the Buccaneers throughout this softball season; and does hereby extend sincere
hopes that the team continue to persevere in the face of hardship and achieve greatness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
principal of Barbe High School.
