COMMENDATIONS: Commends Jefferson Davis Parish District Attorney Michael
Cassidy on his retirement
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend Jefferson Davis Parish district attorney, Michael Cassidy, on the occasion of
3 his retirement.
4 WHEREAS, Michael Cassidy has served as district attorney in Jefferson Davis
5Parish since January 1, 1991, but decided not to seek reelection in 2020; and
6 WHEREAS, Mr. Cassidy has been in public service for more than thirty-four years;
7he worked as the city attorney for Jennings for five-and-a-half years before being elected to
8serve as district attorney for the 31st Judicial District; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Cassidy has served on the Jefferson Davis Parish Landfill
10Commission, as the parish school board's legal counsel, and on the local and state executive
11committees of the Democratic Party; he served several terms on the board of directors of the
12Louisiana District Attorney's Association and as president of the association, and three
13different governors appointed him to serve on the Drug and Violent Crime Board of the
14Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement; and
15 WHEREAS, Michael Cassidy is a fine example of what it means to be a servant of
16the people, and he is most deserving of recognition for more than three decades of dedicated
17service to the state of Louisiana and the people of Jefferson Davis Parish.
18 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
19commend Jefferson Davis Parish district attorney, Michael Cassidy, on the occasion of his
20retirement; does hereby thank Mr. Cassidy for his many contributions to the city of Jennings,

1Jefferson Davis Parish, and the state of Louisiana throughout his career; and does hereby
2extend sincere hopes and wishes that he enjoy his well-earned retirement.
3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
4Michael Cassidy.
