ENROLLED 2021 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 12 BY REPRESENTATIVE ROMERO AND SENATOR AB RAHAM A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To commend Jefferson Davis Parish district attorney, Michael Cassidy, on the occasion of his retirement. WHEREAS, Michael Cassidy has served as district attorney in Jefferson Davis Parish since January 1, 1991, but decided not to seek reelection in 2020; and WHEREAS, Mr. Cassidy has been in public service for more than thirty-four years; he worked as the city attorney for Jennings for five-and-a-half years before being elected to serve as district attorney for the 31st Judicial District; and WHEREAS, Mr. Cassidy has served on the Jefferson Davis Parish Landfill Commission, as the parish school board's legal counsel, and on the local and state executive committees of the Democratic Party; he served several terms on the board of directors of the Louisiana District Attorney's Association and as president of the association, and three different governors appointed him to serve on the Drug and Violent Crime Board of the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement; and WHEREAS, Michael Cassidy is a fine example of what it means to be a servant of the people, and he is most deserving of recognition for more than three decades of dedicated service to the state of Louisiana and the people of Jefferson Davis Parish. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Jefferson Davis Parish district attorney, Michael Cassidy, on the occasion of his retirement; does hereby thank Mr. Cassidy for his many contributions to the city of Jennings, Jefferson Davis Parish, and the state of Louisiana throughout his career; and does hereby extend sincere hopes and wishes that he enjoy his well-earned retirement.
