ENROLLED 2021 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 60 BY REPRESENTATIVE CREWS A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To urge and request the secretary of state to study the implementation of a notification system to alert a voter regarding the status of his vote. WHEREAS, in 2020, Louisiana saw the highest election turnout in nearly 25 years, with 70.1% of registered voters casting a ballot, in approximately 4,000 precincts across the state; and WHEREAS, there has been an increase in absentee by mail and early voting within the state and throughout the country; and WHEREAS, some voters are demanding an extra layer of security assuring them that they have successfully cast their vote; and WHEREAS, the vast majority of states, including Louisiana, allow voters to track a mail ballot from the time it is mailed to when it has been successfully counted; however, such tracking is not automated; and WHEREAS, automated notifications would provide peace of mind for voters who want to ensure their ballot is properly received and their vote is counted; and WHEREAS, such notifications would be beneficial for those who vote by mail as well as for those who vote in person during early voting and on election day. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request the secretary of state to study the implementation of a notification system to alert a voter regarding the status of his vote. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the secretary of state. SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE Page 1 of 1
