HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 110
BY REPRESENTATIVE MCFARLAND
SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH:  Designates, Wednesday, May 26, 2021 as 4-H Day at
the state capitol
1	A RESOLUTION
2To designate Wednesday, May 26, 2021, as 4-H Day at the state capitol.
3 WHEREAS, 4-H is the largest youth development organization in the United States
4and empowers more than six million young people from the ages of eight to eighteen
5throughout the country; and
6 WHEREAS, through America's one hundred and ten land-grant universities, 4-H
7reaches every corner of the United States, from urban neighborhoods to suburban
8schoolyards to rural farming communities; and
9 WHEREAS, 4-H represents head, heart, hands, and health as core values of all
10members and works to develop each through engaging programs; and
11 WHEREAS, the Louisiana main office of 4-H is the premier youth development
12program of the Louisiana State University AgCenter Cooperative Extension System and
13includes clubs, camps, and after-school programs to help its members become responsible
14citizens leading healthy and productive lives; and
15 WHEREAS, with a network that includes more than five hundred thousand
16volunteers, more than three thousand professionals, and more than twenty-five million
17alumni, 4-H helps to shape our country's youth in ways that no other youth organization
18does; and
19 WHEREAS, 4-H empowers all members to reach their full potential, working and
20learning in partnership with caring adults, therefore serving as a catalyst for positive change
21in the lives of its members; and

1 WHEREAS, 4-H'ers engage in hands-on learning activities in the areas of science,
2citizenship, and healthy living; and
3 WHEREAS, 4-H girls are two times more likely in grade ten and nearly three times
4more likely in grade twelve to take part in science programs, and 4-H boys and girls are four
5times more likely to contribute to their communities through academic achievement and
6civic engagement; and
7 WHEREAS, the 4-H program is enhanced by leading corporations, foundations, and
8organizations whose support create cutting-edge opportunities for young people to learn
9real-world skills that prepare them for the challenges of today and tomorrow; and
10 WHEREAS, the national 4-H social networks and social media communities are
11managed by the National 4-H Council, which sponsors first-of-their-kind research projects
12that reveal how young people benefit from life-changing experiences; and
13 WHEREAS, the state 4-H officers are Anna Little, president; Ty Hebert,
14vice-president; Emily Deshotel, secretary; Avery VandeVen, historian/reporter; and Mallory
15Meaux, parliamentarian; and
16 WHEREAS, each officer works with the entire membership to improve their heads
17for managing and clearer thinking, their hearts for caring and greater loyalty, their hands for
18giving and enlarging service, and their health to better living, all done for their club, their
19community, their country, and their world.
20 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
21Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate Wednesday, May 26, 2021, as 4-H Day at
22the state capitol.
23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to 4-H
24state president, Anna Little.
