CONDOLENCES: Expresses condolences on the death of Geraldine C. "Gerrie" Holt
1 A RESOLUTION
2To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Geraldine C.
3 "Gerrie" Holt, of Sieper, Louisiana.
4 WHEREAS, the members of the Louisiana House of Representatives were saddened
5to learn of the death of Geraldine C. "Gerrie" Holt on May 14, 2021, at the age of eighty-
6five; and
7 WHEREAS, born in Pollock, Louisiana, on December 15, 1935, Gerrie's life was an
8adventurous one; her father was a pipefitter, and she attended schools across the United
9States in her formative years; she graduated from Heath High School in Paducah, Kentucky;
10and
11 WHEREAS, Gerrie attended Alexandria Business College and gained employment
12at Rapides Bank as a bookkeeper; and
13 WHEREAS, on June 5, 1955, Gerrie married Winfred Holt, and for several years,
14Gerrie and Winfred operated Holt's Grocery in Otis, Louisiana, while they raised their
15children; and
16 WHEREAS, the Holts were instrumental in the July 1969 startup of Hineston Water
17System, Incorporated; Gerrie served many years as the bookkeeper of the system; and
18 WHEREAS, Gerrie Holt served as a Rapides Parish Ward 5 precinct poll
19commissioner; she retired from Alexandria Super Storage as a manager; and
20 WHEREAS, Gerrie's retirement years were spent rocking on her front porch,
21drinking coffee, and watching the sunrise in Sieper, Louisiana; Gerrie's love of cooking

1brought joy to her family and friends, who enjoyed her delicious meals; she was a member
2of Dixie Baptist Church and Homewood Baptist Church, and her spiritual fellowship brought
3many into her circle of friendship; Gerrie Holt was called Momma, Maw Maw, Miz Gerrie,
4and Sister by those who knew and loved her; and
5 WHEREAS, her absence is felt most in the hearts of family and friends, and she will
6be missed by her children, Pattie Holt Williams, and her husband Dennie, Denise Holt
7McCool, and her husband Danny, Winfred "Butch" Holt, and his wife Lisa, and Harold
8"Scotty" Holt, and his wife Nita; her grandchildren, Lakin Fredieu, Lindsey Murrell, Wesley
9and Wyatt Holt, Darci and Dillon McCool, Zachary and Sarah Williams, and Morgan Paul;
10her great-grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins, and friends.
11 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
12Legislature of Louisiana does hereby extend sincere condolences to the family of Geraldine
13C. "Gerrie" Holt and does hereby express hopes for comfort and peace to those who mourn.
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
15family of Geraldine Holt.
