COMMENDATIONS: Commends the John Curtis Christian Lady Patriots softball team for
winning the 2021 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division I state
championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the John Curtis Christian School Lady Patriots softball team on winning the
3 2021 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division I state championship.
4 WHEREAS, the 2021 John Curtis softball team held fast to the team's winning
5tradition by bringing home a state championship after a remarkable 24-4 season; and
6 WHEREAS, in fact, John Curtis does not just win, it dominates; this is the eleventh
7state softball championship for the Lady Patriots, and in the 2021 tournament, it shut out the
8opposition in both the semi-final and the championship game; and
9 WHEREAS, the state championship game is an example of the team's formula for
10victory; Katie Kempton was recognized as the game's Most Valuable Player, but there were
11many other outstanding performances from her teammates, all of which together made the
12championship a reality; and
13 WHEREAS, Head Coach Jerry Godfrey calls on his players to remember that
14teamwork is the path to success, and now the 2021 Lady Patriots softball team can proudly
15say that they heard that call; the success that has come from their hard work and teamwork
16has brought honor to John Curtis Christian School and all of its supporters; and
17 WHEREAS, the Louisiana House of Representatives finds such achievement most
18deserving of recognition and commendation.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the John Curtis Christian School Lady
3Patriots softball team on winning the 2021 Louisiana High School Athletic Association
4Division I state championship and does hereby express its hope that the players and coaches
5find such success in all of their future endeavors, on and off the field.
6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
7principal of John Curtis Christian School.
