SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Recognizes May 22, 2021, as Thelma Jones Haynes Day
in the state of Louisiana and commends Ms. Haynes on the occasion of her one
hundred fourth birthday
1 A RESOLUTION
2To recognize May 22, 2021, as Thelma Jones Haynes Day in the state of Louisiana and to
3 commend Ms. Haynes on the occasion of her one hundred fourth birthday.
4 WHEREAS, on May 22, 2021, Thelma Jones Haynes will be honored by friends and
5relatives on the occasion of her one hundred fourth birthday; and
6 WHEREAS, Ms. Haynes was born on May 22, 1917, in Jonesville, Louisiana, and
7has been a resident of Ball, Louisiana, for over thirty years; and
8 WHEREAS, Ms. Haynes became the wife of M.J. Haynes in 1936, and her marriage
9to Mr. Haynes was blessed with three children, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren,
10and four great-great grandchildren; and
11 WHEREAS, in addition to being a wife and mother, Ms. Haynes has been an active
12citizen and member of several churches, including Emmanuel Baptist Church in Alexandria
13and Hosanna Baptist Church in Ball; and
14 WHEREAS, during a long and productive lifetime, Ms. Ball has demonstrated, in
15countless ways, her dedication to the welfare of others, and, in so doing, has earned the
16respect and affection of people of all ages from all walks of life; and
17 WHEREAS, Ms. Ball has lived during one of the most eventful centuries of world
18history, and in her quiet way, has been a force for good and a stabilizing influence on those
19around her during these turbulent years.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate May 22, 2021, as Thelma Jones Haynes Day
3in the state of Louisiana and does hereby extend sincere congratulations to Ms. Haynes on
4the momentous occasion of her one hundred fourth birthday and wish her many more happy
5and productive years.
6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
7Thelma Jones Haynes.
