COMMENDATIONS: Commends Janet Faulk-Gonzales on the occasion of her retirement
from the Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Janet Faulk-Gonzales on the occasion of her retirement from the Greater Iberia
3 Chamber of Commerce.
4 WHEREAS, Janet has served as the president and CEO of the Greater Iberia
5Chamber of Commerce since May 5, 2008; and
6 WHEREAS, Janet's leadership of the chamber included sustaining and building on
7community leadership development in Iberia Parish; these objectives were achieved through
8programs such as the flagship Leadership Iberia program, which is in its twenty-third year,
9and the FireStarter Project, which is a high school leadership program in its fifth year of
10operation; and
11 WHEREAS, Janet facilitated a half-day women's leadership conference series called
12"Inspire", and she pushed for the creation of a young professionals group for Iberia Parish;
13and
14 WHEREAS, Janet helped to ensure that the services of the Greater Iberia Chamber
15of Commerce and auxiliary economic development resources were readily available to all
16local businesses on a day-to-day basis; and
17 WHEREAS, she oversaw the pivoting of the chamber's work and direction during
18the COVID-19 pandemic to bolster local business and provide relief and stability to the
19Iberia Parish economy; and
20 WHEREAS, Ms. Faulk-Gonzales helped to educate hundreds of local business
21owners and community members on sustainable business practices that help small businesses

1thrive while also supporting the Iberia Parish economy and connecting with fellow local
2businesses; and
3 WHEREAS, Janet also championed the World Championship Gumbo Cook Off held
4annually in New Iberia; this event is critically important to the region's tourism industry as
5it attracts visitors from around the globe; and
6 WHEREAS, she also partnered with local, regional, and state organizations to
7connect business leaders with their legislators; and
8 WHEREAS, Janet Faulk-Gonzales is most deserving of the highest recognition for
9her incredible commitment to Iberia Parish and for her tireless promotion of South
10Louisiana's culture.
11 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
12Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Janet Faulk-Gonzales on the occasion of her
13retirement from the Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce; does hereby recognize her
14inspiring dedication to the growth of the Iberia Parish economy and the preservation of the
15parish's culture; and does hereby extend sincere wishes that she enjoy a comfortable and
16prosperous retirement.
17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Janet
18Faulk-Gonzales.
