HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 137
BY REPRESENTATIVES CREWS, HORTON, JENKINS, MCCORMICK, MCMAHEN,
AND PRESSLY
COMMENDATIONS:  Commends Bossier Parish Community College for its achievements
1	A RESOLUTION
2To commend Bossier Parish Community College for its achievements.
3 WHEREAS, Bossier Parish Community College had a truly impressive year and
4accomplished a number of noteworthy achievements; and
5 WHEREAS, the Bossier Parish Community College athletic program was incredibly
6successful this year and all teams competed in post-season competitions; the softball team
7had a record-setting season and finished as the regular season champions of their conference;
8the track and field team also had its first ever nationals-qualifying athletes; and
9 WHEREAS, the debate team won the national debate championship for the fifth time
10in school history; and
11 WHEREAS, the Bossier Parish Community College Nursing Program faculty and
12students participated in extensive volunteer efforts to support COVID-19 testing and
13vaccinations over the course of the past year; the program also enjoyed a 100% passage rate
14for first-time NCLEX-RN exam takers; and
15 WHEREAS, Bossier Parish Community College also had its first Fulbright Scholar-
16in-Residence; the student is a native of Belize and is also the first Fulbright Scholar-in-
17Residence for any two-year college in Louisiana; and
18 WHEREAS, 2021 was the tenth-consecutive year that the school was recognized as
19a military-friendly college; it is also recognized as a military spouse-friendly college; and

1 WHEREAS, the Bossier Parish Community College's Cavalier Care Center opened
2this year to serve as a clearing house for student support services that address insecurities
3that impact student success; and
4 WHEREAS, Bossier Parish Community College received the 2021 Top Business
5Innovation Award from the Shreveport Chamber of Commerce and was a finalist for the
62021 Bellwether Award; and
7 WHEREAS, Bossier Parish Community College also collaborated with Northwest
8Louisiana Technical Community College to offer a new commercial vehicle operations
9program, and the school is launching new programs to meet regional workforce needs; and
10 WHEREAS, Bossier Parish Community College is most deserving of recognition for
11having a truly outstanding year filled with accomplishments and accolades.
12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
13Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Bossier Parish Community College for its
14achievements; does hereby recognize Bossier Parish Community College's immense value
15to the state of Louisiana as an institution of higher education; and does hereby extend sincere
16hopes that Bossier Parish Community College enjoy success in its future endeavors.
17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
18chancellor of Bossier Parish Community College.
