COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Bossier Parish Community College debate team on
winning the 2021 International Public Debate Association championship

2To commend the Bossier Parish Community College debate team on winning the 2021
3 International Public Debate Association championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Bossier Parish Community College debate team maintained their
5position atop the national standings following the conclusion of the national championship
6debate tournament held by the International Public Debate Association, the nation's largest
7intercollegiate debate organization; and
8 WHEREAS, the BPCC debate team benefitted from the temporary shift to an online
9environment as they were able to receive tips from former national championship team
10members from across the country through the use of computer webcams; and
11 WHEREAS, the BPCC debate team earned sixty total awards during their impressive
12national championship season, including eight individual tournament awards; and
13 WHEREAS, the team was led by Alex Gibson who placed second nationally in team
14debate; and
15 WHEREAS, this victory marks the fifth national championship for the BPCC debate
16team; they also won national titles in 2011, 2012, 2018, and 2019; and
17 WHEREAS, the members of the Bossier Parish Community College debate team are
18most deserving of recognition for their inspiring performance at the 2021 International
19Public Debate Association championship.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Bossier Parish Community College
3debate team on winning the 2021 International Public Debate Association championship;
4does hereby recognize Coach Bob Alexander's excellent leadership and coaching of this
5year's national champion debate team; does hereby express immense pride for the
6performance of the team; and does hereby extend sincere hopes for the continued success
7of the team in future debate competitions.
8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
9chancellor of Bossier Parish Community College.
