ENROLLED 2021 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 139 BY REPRESENTATIVES CREWS, HORTON, JENKINS, MCCORMICK, MCMAHEN, AND PRESSLY A RESOLUTION To commend the Bossier Parish Community College debate team on winning the 2021 International Public Debate Association championship. WHEREAS, the Bossier Parish Community College debate team maintained their position atop the national standings following the conclusion of the national championship debate tournament held by the International Public Debate Association, the nation's largest intercollegiate debate organization; and WHEREAS, the BPCC debate team benefitted from the temporary shift to an online environment as they were able to receive tips from former national championship team members from across the country through the use of computer webcams; and WHEREAS, the BPCC debate team earned sixty total awards during their impressive national championship season, including eight individual tournament awards; and WHEREAS, the team was led by Alex Gibson who placed second nationally in team debate; and WHEREAS, this victory marks the fifth national championship for the BPCC debate team; they also won national titles in 2011, 2012, 2018, and 2019; and WHEREAS, the members of the Bossier Parish Community College debate team are most deserving of recognition for their inspiring performance at the 2021 International Public Debate Association championship. Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 139 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Bossier Parish Community College debate team on winning the 2021 International Public Debate Association championship; does hereby recognize Coach Bob Alexander's excellent leadership and coaching of this year's national champion debate team; does hereby express immense pride for the performance of the team; and does hereby extend sincere hopes for the continued success of the team in future debate competitions.
