HLS 21RS-1138 ORIGINAL 2021 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 15 BY REPRESENTATIVE DUSTIN MILLER SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Commends Boys & Girls Clubs in the state for their positive impact on the lives of young people and designates April 12-17, 2021, as Boys & Girls Clubs Week in Louisiana 1 A RESOLUTION 2To commend Boys & Girls Clubs and to designate April 12-17, 2021, as Boys & Girls Clubs 3 Week in Louisiana. 4 WHEREAS, Boys & Girls Clubs in Louisiana serve more than 19,000 kids and teens 5annually; and 6 WHEREAS, the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs is to enable young people, especially 7those who need help, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible 8citizens; and 9 WHEREAS, Boys & Girls Clubs work to ensure that each member reaches three 10priority outcomes: academic success (as evidenced by graduation from high school and 11readiness for subsequent experiences in college, trade school, military service, or full-time 12employment), good character and citizenship (as manifest in community engagement, voting 13registration, and the cultivation of a strong character), and a commitment to healthy lifestyles 14(as epitomized by the adoption of a healthy diet, the practicing of healthy lifestyle choices, 15and a lifelong commitment to fitness); and 16 WHEREAS, Boys & Girls Clubs provided important services to youth and families 17throughout the COVID-19 pandemic; and 18 WHEREAS, Boys & Girls Clubs around the state of Louisiana provide valuable 19opportunities for youth; and Page 1 of 2 HLS 21RS-1138 ORIGINAL HR NO. 15 1 WHEREAS, the dedicated professionals in Boys & Girls Clubs provide important 2connections with caring and supportive adults for kids and teens who need them the most; 3and 4 WHEREAS, Boys & Girls Clubs are committed to reaching more young people in 5the state in communities large and small. 6 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 7Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the state for 8their outstanding commitment to children, teens, and families, and for ensuring that young 9people have a safe, fun, and positive place to go, especially during times of crisis, and hereby 10recognizes the week of April 12-17, 2021, as Boys & Girls Clubs Week in Louisiana.
