HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 152

COMMENDATIONS: Commends St. Amant High School's Coach Larry Favorite on the
occasion of his retirement
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend St. Amant High School's Coach Larry Favorite on the occasion of his
3 retirement.
4 WHEREAS, Coach Favorite has coached at St. Amant High School for the past
5forty-three years; he served as the school's head basketball coach for all of those years and
6as the head football coach for thirty-three years; and
7 WHEREAS, Coach Favorite was a standout athlete in high school and college; he
8lettered in basketball and football and competed in track and field during his time as a
9student at East Ascension High School; he played offensive tackle for the Grambling State
10University Tigers football team from 1971 until 1975; he was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons
11during the 1975 NFL Draft; and
12 WHEREAS, as a coach, Coach Favorite led the St. Amant football team to numerous
13state playoff appearances; he also led the school's basketball team to several district
14championships and state tournament appearances; and
15 WHEREAS, Coach Favorite was a member of the inaugural basketball and football
16coaching staffs at St. Amant High School; and
17 WHEREAS, Coach Favorite has been married to Mary Favorite for forty-four years,
18and they have two children, Rainie and Shamory Favorite; he is a devoted community
19servant who has worked at numerous camps for underprivileged children throughout his
20career, and he has served as a motivational speaker at churches throughout his community;

1 WHEREAS, in his free time, Coach Favorite enjoys spending time with his family
2and friends, and he is especially fond of the time he shares with his grandson; and
3 WHEREAS, Coach Larry Favorite is a pillar of the Ascension Parish community and
4he is most deserving of recognition.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
6Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend St. Amant High School's Coach Larry
7Favorite on the occasion of his retirement; does hereby recognize Coach Favorite's
8dedication to the Ascension Parish community; does hereby express appreciation to Coach
9Favorite for devoting more than four decades to coaching high school athletes and molding
10them into successful citizens; and does hereby extend sincere wishes that Coach Favorite
11enjoy a comfortable retirement.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Larry
13Favorite.
