CONDOLENCES: Expresses condolences on the death of Darrell "Soul" Robert Semien
1 A RESOLUTION
2To express the condolences of the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana
3 upon the death of Darrell "Soul" Robert Semien.
4 WHEREAS, it is with great sadness that the House of Representatives has learned
5of the death of Darrell "Soul" Semien at the age of fifty-five; and
6 WHEREAS, Darrell was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who worked as
7a crane operator for twenty years to provide for his family; for the past fifteen years, he
8worked as a police officer with the Reeves Police Department and the Allen Parish Sheriff's
9Office; and
10 WHEREAS, Darrell loved working on old cars, riding motorcycles, listening and
11dancing to zydeco music, fishing, and being outdoors; his most cherished moments were
12those spent with his family, especially his grandchild; and
13 WHEREAS, Darrell is remembered as an incredibly loving and caring person who
14always wanted to make people smile and feel loved; he served as a foster parent for sixteen
15years, touching the lives of seventy-two foster children; and
16 WHEREAS, Darrell leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Karla Semien; sons, Cory
17Semien, Tyler Semien, and Malachi Semien; daughters, Kimberly Curley, and her husband
18Cedric, Shayla Semien, and her companion Earl Arvie, Madison Semien, and Miracle
19Semien; granddaughter, Ever Iris Curley; mother-in-law, Frances Hayes; brothers, Donald
20Semien, and his wife Tessie, and John Semien, and his wife Lola; sisters, Velma Davis,

1Gerri Thomas, Shirley Ardoin, and her husband Ray, and DeeDee Chambers; and a host of
2nieces, nephews, and godchildren; and
3 WHEREAS, Darrell "Soul" Robert Semien was a truly compassionate and generous
4man; he will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew
5and loved him.
6 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
7Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express heartfelt condolences on the death of Darrell
8"Soul" Robert Semien and does hereby extend sincere wishes that his family, friends, and
9loved ones find comfort during this extremely difficult time.
10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
11family of Darrell "Soul" Robert Semien.
