ENROLLED 2021 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 167 BY REPRESENTATIVE CARRIER A RESOLUTION To express the condolences of the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Darrell "Soul" Robert Semien. WHEREAS, it is with great sadness that the House of Representatives has learned of the death of Darrell "Soul" Semien at the age of fifty-five; and WHEREAS, Darrell was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who worked as a crane operator for twenty years to provide for his family; for the past fifteen years, he worked as a police officer with the Reeves Police Department and the Allen Parish Sheriff's Office; and WHEREAS, Darrell loved working on old cars, riding motorcycles, listening and dancing to zydeco music, fishing, and being outdoors; his most cherished moments were those spent with his family, especially his grandchild; and WHEREAS, Darrell is remembered as an incredibly loving and caring person who always wanted to make people smile and feel loved; he served as a foster parent for sixteen years, touching the lives of seventy-two foster children; and WHEREAS, Darrell leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Karla Semien; sons, Cory Semien, Tyler Semien, and Malachi Semien; daughters, Kimberly Curley, and her husband Cedric, Shayla Semien, and her companion Earl Arvie, Madison Semien, and Miracle Semien; granddaughter, Ever Iris Curley; mother-in-law, Frances Hayes; brothers, Donald Semien, and his wife Tessie, and John Semien, and his wife Lola; sisters, Velma Davis, Gerri Thomas, Shirley Ardoin, and her husband Ray, and DeeDee Chambers; and a host of nieces, nephews, and godchildren; and Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 167 ENROLLED WHEREAS, Darrell "Soul" Robert Semien was a truly compassionate and generous man; he will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express heartfelt condolences on the death of Darrell "Soul" Robert Semien and does hereby extend sincere wishes that his family, friends, and loved ones find comfort during this extremely difficult time.
