COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Jena High School softball team on winning the
Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2021 Class 3A state championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Jena High School softball team on winning the Louisiana High School
3 Athletic Association 2021 Class 3A state championship.
4 WHEREAS, the third-ranked Jena High School Lady Giants softball team defeated
5the fourth-ranked Iowa High School softball team, 12-10, at the LHSAA Fast Pitch 56 State
6Softball Tournament in Sulphur, Louisiana, to capture the Class 3A state championship; and
7 WHEREAS, the victory marks Jena High School's first-ever state championship in
8softball; and
9 WHEREAS, Jena High School's Janasia Jones earned the Most Outstanding Player
10award after reaching base in all five of her at-bats; she tallied three walks, two home runs,
11three RBI, and scored four runs; she finished the weekend with three home runs, six RBI,
12four walks, and five runs scored; and
13 WHEREAS, Head Coach Sarah Roark and her staff helped guide the Lady Giants
14throughout the season, and their incredible coaching led to an exciting, come-from-behind
15championship victory in the final contest of the season; and
16 WHEREAS, the Jena High School Lady Giants softball team is most deserving of
17recognition for their incredible performance this year.
18 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
19Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Jena High School softball team on
20winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2021 Class 3A state championship

1and does hereby extend sincere hopes that the members of the team enjoy similar success
2in all of their future endeavors.
3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
4principal of Jena High School.
