COMMENDATIONS: Commends Lusher Charter School students Derek Zhang and Iman
Ferguson on winning state titles in the 2020 Louisiana High School Athletic
Association Division III swim championships
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Lusher Charter School students Derek Zhang and Iman Ferguson on winning
3 state titles in the 2020 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division III swim
4 championships.
5 WHEREAS, the Lusher Charter School Sea Lions swim team put on an impressive
6performance at the 2020 Division III state swim championships; the women's team placed
7fourth overall, and the men's team placed seventh overall; and
8 WHEREAS, Lusher's Derek Zhang took home gold medals in the one hundred yard
9backstroke and the one hundred meter butterfly events; and
10 WHEREAS, Iman Ferguson took home a gold medal in the one hundred yard
11freestyle event; and
12 WHEREAS, in addition to Zhang's and Ferguson's gold medals, Isabelle Mundee
13took home a silver medal in the five hundred yard freestyle and a bronze medal in the two
14hundred yard freestyle; the Women's Relay A team also earned a silver medal in the four
15hundred yard freestyle relay and a bronze medal in the two hundred yard freestyle relay; and
16 WHEREAS, the Lusher Charter School swim team put on an impressive display at
17the Division III swim championships, and the first place performances of Derek Zhang and
18Iman Ferguson are particularly deserving of recognition.
19 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
20Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Lusher Charter School students Derek Zhang

1and Iman Ferguson on winning state titles in the 2020 Louisiana High School Athletic
2Association Division III swim championships; does hereby recognize the efforts of the entire
3Sea Lions' swim team; and does hereby extend sincere wishes that the members of the team
4continue to work hard and enjoy success in all of their future endeavors.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
6principal of Lusher Charter School.
