HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 176

A RESOLUTION
To commend Lusher Charter School students Derek Zhang and Iman Ferguson on winning
state titles in the 2020 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division III swim
championships.
WHEREAS, the Lusher Charter School Sea Lions swim team put on an impressive
performance at the 2020 Division III state swim championships; the women's team placed
fourth overall, and the men's team placed seventh overall; and
WHEREAS, Lusher's Derek Zhang took home gold medals in the one hundred yard
backstroke and the one hundred meter butterfly events; and
WHEREAS, Iman Ferguson took home a gold medal in the one hundred yard
freestyle event; and
WHEREAS, in addition to Zhang's and Ferguson's gold medals, Isabelle Mundee
took home a silver medal in the five hundred yard freestyle and a bronze medal in the two
hundred yard freestyle; the Women's Relay A team also earned a silver medal in the four
hundred yard freestyle relay and a bronze medal in the two hundred yard freestyle relay; and
WHEREAS, the Lusher Charter School swim team put on an impressive display at
the Division III swim championships, and the first place performances of Derek Zhang and
Iman Ferguson are particularly deserving of recognition.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Lusher Charter School students Derek Zhang
and Iman Ferguson on winning state titles in the 2020 Louisiana High School Athletic
Association Division III swim championships; does hereby recognize the efforts of the entire
Sea Lions' swim team; and does hereby extend sincere wishes that the members of the team
continue to work hard and enjoy success in all of their future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
principal of Lusher Charter School.
