CONDOLENCES:  Expresses condolences on the death of Christopher Blaise "Chris"
Edwards
1	A RESOLUTION
2To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Christopher
3 Blaise "Chris" Edwards.
4 WHEREAS, it is with immense sadness and profound regret that the House of
5Representatives has learned of the death, on April 11, 2021, of Christopher Blaise "Chris"
6Edwards, after a hard-fought, year-long battle with cancer; and
7 WHEREAS, Chris was born to the late Daniel Boone Edwards and Catherine
8Murphy Edwards in New Orleans on August 12, 1965; he attended St. Julian Eymard
9Elementary School in Algiers and was a graduate of Jesuit High School; and
10 WHEREAS, Chris completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Notre
11Dame and earned a juris doctorate degree at Tulane University Law School; he practiced law
12in Gretna for thirty years and was a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the
13Jefferson Bar Association, and the Westbank Rotary Club; and
14 WHEREAS, Mr. Edwards was very involved in the community; he volunteered to
15serve as Cubmaster of Scout Pack 393 and as chairman of the board for Belle Chasse
16Academy; he was also a longtime member of the Krewe of Alla; and
17 WHEREAS, Chris Edwards is remembered for his ability to bring laughter to any
18setting with his sometimes irreverent sense of humor; he was an incredibly loyal friend who
19always enjoyed helping others; he was especially fond of fishing, traveling, collecting wine,
20and celebrating Jazz Fest and Mardi Gras; and

1 WHEREAS, Christopher Blaise "Chris" Edwards is survived by his wife, Deidra
2Kepler Edwards; his son, William Blaise Edwards; his daughter, Catherine Alecta Edwards;
3his brother, Benjamin Dudley Edwards, and his wife Kathleen Pendergrast; and his nephew,
4Benjamin Edwards, and his wife Emily; and
5 WHEREAS, Chris displayed a tremendous measure of strength and a positive
6attitude throughout his battle with cancer; he will be deeply missed, but certainly not
7forgotten.
8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
9Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express heartfelt condolences on the death of
10Christopher Blaise "Chris" Edwards; does hereby commend Chris for being a beacon of light
11in his community despite the battle he faced; and does hereby extend sincere hopes that his
12family, friends, and loved ones find comfort during this difficult time.
13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
14family of Christopher Blaise "Chris" Edwards.
