COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Isidore Newman School girls' tennis team on
winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2021 Division III state
championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Isidore Newman School girls' tennis team on winning the Louisiana High
3 School Athletic Association 2021 Division III state championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Isidore Newman School girls' tennis team repeated as Division III
5state champions at the championship tournament which was held at the University of
6Louisiana Monroe; and
7 WHEREAS, Newman's Micah Pierce won the singles title after defeating her
8opponent from Parkview Baptist 6-0, 6-1 in the championship match; and
9 WHEREAS, the Newman doubles team of Celia Hardin and Caroline Marcus won
10the doubles title by defeating the University High team 3-6, 6-4, 10-8; and
11 WHEREAS, the Greenies finished the tournament with 18 points, which was nearly
12twice the score of its closest competitor; and
13 WHEREAS, the Isidore Newman School girls' tennis team is most deserving of
14recognition for winning the 2021 Division III state title.
15 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
16Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Isidore Newman School girls' tennis
17team on winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2021 Division III state
18championship and does hereby extend sincere hopes for the continued success of the team.
19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
20principal of Isidore Newman School.
