HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 183

A RESOLUTION
To commend the Isidore Newman School girls' tennis team on winning the Louisiana High
School Athletic Association 2021 Division III state championship.
WHEREAS, the Isidore Newman School girls' tennis team repeated as Division III
state champions at the championship tournament which was held at the University of
Louisiana Monroe; and
WHEREAS, Newman's Micah Pierce won the singles title after defeating her
opponent from Parkview Baptist 6-0, 6-1 in the championship match; and
WHEREAS, the Newman doubles team of Celia Hardin and Caroline Marcus won
the doubles title by defeating the University High team 3-6, 6-4, 10-8; and
WHEREAS, the Greenies finished the tournament with 18 points, which was nearly
twice the score of its closest competitor; and
WHEREAS, the Isidore Newman School girls' tennis team is most deserving of
recognition for winning the 2021 Division III state title.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Isidore Newman School girls' tennis
team on winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2021 Division III state
championship and does hereby extend sincere hopes for the continued success of the team.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
principal of Isidore Newman School.
