COMMENDATIONS: Commends St. Thomas More Catholic High School on winning four
state titles during the 2020-2021 school year
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend St. Thomas More Catholic High School on winning four state titles during the
3 2020-2021 school year.
4 WHEREAS, the St. Thomas More Catholic High School Cougars had an outstanding
5year in athletics; and
6 WHEREAS, the Cougars' football team capped off an undefeated season with an
7impressive 35-28 victory over De La Salle in the Louisiana High School Athletic
8Association 2020 Division II state championship game, giving the team its second-
9consecutive state title; the team was also recognized as the 2020 MaxPreps Champion for
10the state of Louisiana; and
11 WHEREAS, the Cougars' boys basketball team defeated University Lab, 60-49, in
12the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2021 Division II state championship; the
13victory secured the team's fourth-consecutive state championship; and
14 WHEREAS, the Cougars' girls soccer team defeated Lakeshore, 4-2, in the Louisiana
15High School Athletic Association 2021 Division II state championship game, earning the
16team its fourth-consecutive state championship; and
17 WHEREAS, the Cougars' boys tennis team won the Louisiana High School Athletic
18Association 2021 Division II championship at the state tournament by accumulating 16 total
19points to finish ahead of Neville and Teurlings Catholic; and
20 WHEREAS, St. Thomas More Catholic High School is most deserving of recognition
21for its truly astonishing level of athletic success across multiple sports in 2020-2021 and for

1maintaining the very highest levels of excellence throughout its athletic program for the last
2several years.
3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
4Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend St. Thomas More Catholic High School on
5winning four state titles during the 2020-2021 school year; does hereby recognize the
6school's outstanding athletic success throughout this school year and the incredible student-
7athletes who were the driving force behind these astonishing accomplishments; and does
8hereby extend sincere hopes for the continued success of the school and its students in all
9of their future endeavors.
10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
11principal of St. Thomas More Catholic High School.
